Treatment Methods

We offer four treatment methods.

Drywood Termites

Drywood Termites infest dry wood, such as structural lumber, posts, stored wood, utility poles, and dead tree limbs. From these areas winged reproductives can migrate to adjacent buildings usually on sunny days in the fall. However, in Southern California there can be reproductive swarms any time from August through January depending on the weather patterns.

Drywood termites have a low moisture requirement and can tolerate dry conditions for prolonged periods. The Western Drywood Termite remains entirely above ground and do not connect their colonies to the ground. Piles of the fecal pellets are signs of infestation and vary in color based on the infested wood and weather. Direct sunlight and or moisture will affect the color of the pellets.

Winged reproductives are dark brown with smoky black wings, with black veins and have an orange to red head. The drywood termite is noticeably larger than the subterranean termite.

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean termites require moist environments. They usually nest near or in the soil and maintain a connection to the soil through tunnels or shelter tubes. The most common signs of subterranean termite infestation are the tunnels or winged reproductives along the foundation or windows. The tunnels or shelter tubes serve a dual purpose; they protect the termite from predators by concealing the worker termite and provide the termite with the moisture that is needed for it to survive above the soil level.

The western subterranean termite, is the most destructive termite found in California. Reproductive winged forms of subterranean termites are dark brown to black in color with clear to gray wings. On warm sunny days after a rain fall, swarms of reproductives may be seen in or around your structure.

Termite Control

No Home or Business is safe from termite infestation. Termites cause more damage to buildings in the United States than fires, storms, and floods combined. The main problem with termites is most property owners don’t see them or the damage they cause until the damage is done.

Termites are well organized and can find a way inside any structure, regardless of the construction type. That’s why we here at ACCESS Exterminator Service provide a thorough inspection and the most advanced treatments available.

ACCU-FOAM wall void injection system. A dry foam application for moisture sensitive locations, to control drywood termites. Whole house / structure or as little as one wall.

ACCESS Injection System. Wet foam application for drywood and subterranean termite infestations. Whole house / structure or as little as one wall.

Local Treatment. For exposed wood showing active termite infestation, such as fascia, wood trim, rafter tails, attic areas, etc.

Pressure treatment (under slab), trench application at the foundation for the control of subterranean termites.

Fumigation, whole structure treatment for drywood termites.

ACCU-FOAM Injection Systems

These pictures show portions of a test wall with drywall on one side (not shown) insulation and clear plastic on the picture side. This shows how the ACCU-FOAM Injection System moves and works inside the walls of your structure. This treatment can be used to treat the whole wall, floor to ceiling, or a smaller portion as shown below depending on the extent of infestation.

Please note how the foam product covers the infested area penetrating into the wood framing. This process transfers the Borate or Orange oil product deep into the infested wood killing the termite infestation. This process is used to treat the interior areas around doors, windows, or other areas that are showing termite activity behind your finished walls.

To complete this treatment a ¼ inch hole will be drilled on both sides of the wall stud, this allows us to inject the ACCU-FOAM as close to the infestation as possible. Generally the injection holes are placed near the top plate close to the ceiling.
